Traveling Outside Orlando
DeSoto Falls, Alabama.
Not my usual scenery coming out of Orlando, FL... but when my son had his High School spring break baseball tournament out here, we had to make the trip.
It was peaceful, and reminds me of the days I was his age, traveling around and playing baseball with my brother.
They played at two high schools around Chatanooga, TN but our family decided to take a 45 minute drive to catch these amazing waterfalls.
Working in real estate I get to see and experience a lot of different family dynamics.
- Single people
- Married people
- Married with children
- Widowed
- Retired
- Newly divorced...
- Nastily divorced!
It is humbling reflect on and appreciate our blessings as a family and how truly close we are.
So many people move to escape from their families, grow apart or worse -
are alone.
My wife and I will be married for 22 years this year.
We have 2 beautiful children teenage children.
All four of us went to Tennessee for the tournament, we spent most of our time at the ball fields but made time for meals and outings together.
We're blessed for moments like this, especially as the children get older.
They're like little adults now.
Feels weird.
This makes me pause and think more about what life will be like for me and Jenn once they're fully gone... but I have faith that as always, God will take my life & career in a new and exciting direction, and I'll once again be challenged to grow.
And just like I've been fortunate to revisit my parents in Central Florida, anytime, during my entire adult life... I rest easy knowing my kids have the same bond & trust in us, too.
A safe space and warm bed to always come back home to.
That's what my family has given me,
that's what Orlando has given me,
and that's what I want to pay forward.
